Alföld (Great Plain)
- Csongrád,
Kunság,
Hajós-Baja,
(Great Plain)
In the territory between the Danube and Tisza rivers, the Great Plain Region is formed by three extensive, interconnected wine growing areas. The Kunság, Csongrád and Hajós wine regions all lie on level ground covered with sand, with patches of loess here and there. The grape growing spots of the Great Plain were marked down as mere garden vineyards at one time, though today this region is the largest vine cultivation area in Hungary. Practically all the varieties grown in Hungary are to be found in the region, including such rarities as Kövidinka, Izsáki, Ezerjó, and Pozsonyi. Of the red wine grapes, besides the international varieties, there is a significant proportion of Kadarka.
